March is Reading Month:
We are celebrating March is Reading Month with a classroom reading goal. As students read nightly, they record the number of minutes read on their calendar. At the end of each week, I will calculate the total number of minutes our classroom read and post our progress outside our classroom door. The reading calendar can be kept safe inside student communicators. Students can choose to participate or continue to add to their quarter reading log. It is not required to complete both. Please have students choose one. Our classroom goal is 5000 minutes! We can do it!
Triad Read-In:
On Friday, March 15th, Mrs. Plant, Mrs. Kolodisa, and Mrs. Bertapelle will be celebrating March is Reading Month. You are invited to join your child Friday morning from 8:30 to 9:00 for this reading event. Students are encouraged to bring in their favorite Dr. Seuss book to share and/or a snack to share with their classroom. Students can also wear pajamas to school that day. Pajamas must be appropriate, t-shirts should be worn under sleeveless or camisole tops. Shoes and socks are to be worn as well, no slippers.
Popcorn Friday is upon us!
On Friday, March 8th, our class will be selling popcorn. We are looking for volunteers from 9:00 - 11:00 am to help pop popcorn and fill bags. If you are able to help, please let me know as soon as possible.
Save the Date!
Spring Student-Led Conferences are fast approaching. They will be held March 26, 27, and 28th from 4:30- 8:00. Notes will be sent home this Friday. On the note, please indicate your first three time requests. The early bird gets the worm, so send in your requests as soon as possible.
Recess
We have not been able to go outside to recess for various reasons over the last few weeks. Please remember that if the weather permits, we will go outside for fresh air and freedom. Please send your child prepared for recess everyday.
Alice and Jack Wirt Library
Please send in library card registration forms or your child’s library card as soon as possible. We will begin bi-monthly walking trips when I have all cards and forms. Students will be able to check out books of their choice and return them every two weeks. The books will be their responsibility as well as any fines. If you have any questions, please let me know.
Spelling City
Students can visit www.spellingcity.com to assist them with their weekly spelling words. Students can play games, create flash cards, word searches, take a test, and practice.
